One of the best price to quality ratios in the city. It's on my Top 3 Restos in all of Ottawa easy! All of their food is great or better. The owner and servers are fantastic. The place is really popular, so show up earlier on friday & saturday nights if crowds brother you. Reservations are a good idea on those days. Oh, and their tequila is amazing!

This Wellington West find was hopping even for a cold Thursday night in Ottawa.
Agave is a small Mexican restaurant but don't let it's size fool you -- it was hopping and loud on my first visit.
The group that went in before my friend and I were told they'd have to wait so they turned around and left but we chose a place we thought would fit us quite well -- the bar stools. Hey, she bragged that this place has THE best margaritas in town.
We had to try them since we have probably tasted every kind of margarita on our last visit to Margaritaville in Las Vegas.
The drink passed the test and was yummy. Although the first sip took me back to some bad Jimmy Buffett songs that I tried to erase from my head.
On to the main course which for me was "The Mexican Flag". That almost sounds like something you'd look up on Urban Dictionary but instead this was just as it sounds -- a great dish that is presented to look like the red white and green flag.
It was the right mix of cheese, meat and salsa. The beans on the side were also very good. She had the chimichanga and approved as well.
The server doubled as the bartender and was only one of two staffers working the room which was really quite busy. The place is small and was quite loud but overall I left the small space as a new fan. -

Another great lunch with Breezy, the superstar server at Agave. Today we tried the chicken breast stuffed with goat cheese and red peppers with cilantro cream sauce and the Mexican flag enchiladas. Both were very good but the cilantro cream sauce was outstanding.

Review from Hintonburg R.
Ottawa, ON
The food is good. One of the few places in the city to get great Mexican food. But what puts this place on the next level is the fact that you can get German beer on tap here - Warsteiner to be specific. In a town that has a fetish for pubs and British beer, and often so-so microbrews, Agave says it's going to stand out by offering light and dark Reinhatsgebot-friendly beer. Andale andale, wunderbar.

Good atmosphere. The menu is a mix of Mexican and, more for the appetizers/kids, Italian. The Mexican food is very tasty. Service is quick and correct. Prices are right - decent portions with normal main courses around $14-$16 and specialty main courses around $17-$20. Recommended.
