Review from Garen A.
I went here for recently for my second tattoo. I was lucky enough to get in with an appointment at the last minute. I was lucky to have Tanya do my tattoo. She was fantastic..very precise and detailed with a soft touch. Next trip to the great white may find me back in to see her for some more needling. The shop is cool. Two floors with great merchandise and it was very clean. I walked out of there with a great skull cap (damn cold up there in December).
If in the market for a tat and in Montreal, stop in, the staff was very friendly too. -

The people who rave about this place tend to be people who have not been to many tattoo studios. Or any tattoo studios. At all. They see an ad on the metro or in the Montreal Mirror and they go, what the hell? Let's try Adrenaline out. This is many people's first tattoo shop. I have met very few people who have gotten more than one tattoo from here, and the ones that did, often had (in their opinion and my opinion) shoddy work done. In my personal opinion, Adrenaline is a little overhyped. There are many other tattoo studios with amazing artists that do (in my opinion) better quality work for the same price and with better service.
The fact that they sell clothing and hats is also odd. It's like a dentist that runs a newspaper stand in his office - what the hell for? I'd get it if it were just a few t-shirts flaunting the shop itself, but it's seriously like an H&M/Ardene merger in there. Anyway, I find it to be a little strange. From a capitalist/business standpoint it makes sense - sell more stuff, make more money. But I personally don't feel it belongs there or in the tattoo industry in general.
I've been here several times, mostly for when my friends insisted on getting tattooed/pierced here. Without exaggeration, many of my friends' tattoos that they got here did not heal properly and did not pass muster, professionally speaking. Some of their piercings migrated/rejected quickly due to improper placement. When I inquired about what kind of autoclaves they use and asked to see some sort of cross-contamination training certificate, I was given a ton of attitude. Note that all this took place several years ago, and that things change - perhaps they have different staff members now and superior customer service than when I visited.
Okay, so my advice is basically this: shop around. Don't just settle for the first tattoo studio you see advertised in the paper or on the street. Don't rely on word of mouth or even on this review or any other review - check out several shops' portfolios and compare them with each other. If you genuinely like Adrenaline's work at the end of the day, then give them a try.Comment from Chris S. of Adrenaline 5/12/2012

Review from Farin I.
I had one tattoo from here done by both Tanya and the fill up by Daveé.. or darren. cant remember, anyway. I was super young so I dont really recall anything as much but I definitely didnt have a bad experience, Tanya was super patient and attentive, and was cool as we chatted in between here and there. I wouldnt really say this is a bad place at all. They are strict on age policy though, so maybe carry a second around.

Review from Allison T.
Of course I'm reviewing a tattoo parlor.
So here's a note for those of you adventurous American yelpers who enjoy doing stupid things on vacation like getting tourist tattoos or piercings...In Canada, there is very minimal legislation regarding the running of body mod shops. On our visit my wayward traveling friends and I chose Adrenaline because after much research we realized that due to their American sister stores, they held themselves to a higher standard of cleanliness. Hooray.
So off we went.
I'll note here that this review is for customer service and the clothing store portion of the shop. On the day we went they were booked solid tattoo wise. Still, one of the ladies in the shop gave us a really comprehensive rundown of each artists' strengths and weaknesses as well as their cost structure.
At the time I was debating getting my labret pierced and a fellow not to be named yelper who is more adventurous than I was debating a slightly more, um, scandalous, piercing.
One of the piercers (I feel awful that I can't remember his name) gave us an overview of jewelry, aftercare, his procedures, etc. He was really honest which I totally appreciated. He asked me whether I'd had any other piercings aside from my ears and whether I'd had any problems. I told him about the nose ring I sported for awhile through college and after a few questions he recommended against the labret. He had a short pep talk with my friend about what would be involved in her piercing and then left her to decide, no pressure.
In the end we only purchased gifts for folks back home; however we were in the shop for a little over an hour. I've gotta say - loved the attitude, the service, and the cleanliness of the place. I'm not sure that I'd make the trip up to Canada to have work done by someone from Adrenaline, but if I'm back in the area with an itch to add to my collection of slightly ridiculous on a whim tats, I'll feel comfortable coming here.
(3.5 overall - upped to 4). -
