After seeing so many good reviews from a lot of my friends, and the Coast I decided to book an appointment with Amber at Adept to get my chest piece done. I made the appointment for Saturday March 31st. When me and my sister arrived for my appointment we were told that Amber was currently away on business and wouldn't be back until the fallowing week. I was extremely upset and disappointed because I had booked my appointment in Jan and was really excited to be getting my tattoo.
The guy working on the front desk told me that no one had even written my appointment down anywhere in the book on another date...my name was no where to be found, and that I must have made an appointment with another shop. He was really rude and mad me feel like I was lying or crazy.
I asked if there was a manger around, or if there was a way for me to contact Amber directly and we were rudely told no, but could we could wait for the girl who books the appointments, who was busy at the moment.
We waited for about half an hour and no one came to speak with us, so we told the guy one the front desk once again that we were disappointed in Adept and the fact that we were basically ignored and treated rudely and that we were leaving and taking out business to another shop. He rudely told us "that's cool, we don't really need it anyways" as he waved us out the door.
I am Sad that Adept is considered to be one of the best tattoo shops in HRM. Though the work I've always seen from the artists is great, the customer service is horrible. I wouldn't recommend Adept to any of my friends. -

I've been wanting to get a fairly large piece (3/4 sleeve) for quite some time now and finally decided to take a deep breath and jump in. I called to book a consultation with Amber and had to wait nearly a month to get in- this I took as a good sign- if she's busy her work must be as good as it looks in her portfolio.
I had a few ideas of what I wanted, but was hoping the consultation would be an opportunity to bounce some ideas around and get some input/ suggestions.
I showed up a few minutes early for my appointment and was greeted by some super friendly front desk ladies and told to take a seat and advised me that Amber was not in yet. Half an hour later (and 25min after my schedules appointment time) she rolled in the front doors.
She called me up to the counter (the shop was really busy by this point) and abruptly started asking me questions as though she was taking an order for a pizza rather than "consulting" with me on a major piece of artwork.
She informed me that she wasn't into bouncing ideas around as "we could go back and forth forever and not come up with anything".
Our exchange ended with her sending me away without much further adieu and certainly no ideas/ suggestions.
I understand that she runs a busy shop and she was clearly running late but the whole exchange gave me the impression that she could really care less about having a creative exchange of ideas. I don't expect to hug and exchange life stories,
Unfortunately, I definitely won't be going back and have a pretty shitty first experience with the tattoo biz. Too bad, because she is a really talented artist and appears to run a clean shop..... -

Make sure you book your appointment well in advance if you want Amber to do your Tattoo. After three years of talking myself in and out of the decision to get another tattoo, I booked my apt with amber. The day I went I was very nervous but I want this tattoo as it represented my Girlfriend that passed away with cancer.
Amber came highly recommended as many people that I knew when to her to get their ink done. I walked in and starting to look around at all the pictures and drawings that were done of the many clients. I previously went in and showed Amber what I was thinking about and he did up some drawings. Today was the day that it was going to happen.
Not sure if it was the location of the tattoo by OMG I was like stop! She laughed and told me to take a deep breath. All I could think about is my GF going through what she did and I told myself I can do this. 2.5 hours later I walked out of there with one major tattoo that represent by GF.
Amber was great at what I called her bed side manor as well as she is amazing with her gear. I will tell you that you have to book well in advance as the more shows she does the longer your waiting period will be.
