Let's be honest, there's just not a lot of good plus-sized fashion available in Victoria. Addition-Elle used to be one of the best choices. But over the past few years, they've gone way down in quality, style and uniqueness (half their stock is the exact same as Pennington's) and up in price. Once I tried on a simple cotton sun dress. It was a nice cut, black and white pattern, cotton jersey material. I would have worn it to the beach. It was $89.00. I found something similar at Old Navy the next day for $29.50 (seriously).
Their prices are really, really out of line with their product, and they can't seem to make up their mind who they're trying to appeal to. They waver between matronly, shapeless, oversized tops and sweaters in unflattering, tacky patterns whose purpose seems to be to camouflage and disguise women as loud, garish sacks of potatoes, to equally tacky fashion aimed at the "younger" crowd which seems to consist of taking something basic - a tshirt, a skirt, a pair of cargo pants - and wrecking the hell out of it with a zillion rhinestones, an asymmetrical, jagged hem line, a lot of applique flowers, or a print of a big set of lips or something, plus a lot of metal rings and buckles. Addition-Elle has become very big on metal rings and buckles.
It's a solid choice for decent plain tshirts and tanks (at better quality - but the higher price to match - than similar stores), and they have decent tights/stockings and sometimes some decent workout wear. Very occasionally I will find something cute, well-cut and not outlandishly tacky or overpriced. But it's not often, anymore. I wish they'd go back to the way they were.
