After slumming around insufficient and inadequate spas in Vancouver, I've finally found one that delivers results! I've had knots in my shoulder for months and not one masseuse managed to knead it out. So when I walked into Absolutely Fabulous Spa, I didn't expect much. Especially at these prices and with that name, I thought I'd just get aromatherapy and some frou frou service while getting some pressure points pressed every now and then. Even when I was consulting with my masseuse Gillian, she told me it was unlikely she can get the knots out in one session.
Lo and behold this woman had some mad skills! Her pressure was perfect and her technique was skillful. She was assertive and firm but also made me feel very relaxed. After my hour was over, the knot was finally gone and I was overjoyed. I can't speak for the rest of the staff/services, but she is definitely my go-to person from now on. -

I had purchased a voucher for a 1/2 hour FIR sauna, a one-hour hot stone massage, and a one-hour facial around Christmastime, and recently I decided that the time had come to redeem it.
This spa is located at the southernmost end of Hornby St, basically across False Creek from Granville Island. I arrived early, so I spent some time strolling through the beautiful neighbourhood. When I arrived at the spa, I realized that I had come an entire hour early. I told them that I would kill some time and come back, but Margaret (the gal who did my treatments) was amazing and told me that she could start my appointment early. I couldn't believe it!
The FIR sauna was nice, albeit smaller than some others I've been in. The hot stone massage and facial were dreamy, and Margaret was great in that she was warm and friendly, but not too chatty. At the end of my treatments, she wasn't trying to push products on me at all, and she also gave me a 20% discount for the next appointment I book.
It was a great spa experience, and I would recommend anyone to check them out.Listed in: From Blah to Beautiful

Right. After the fantastic massage I had here a few weeks ago, I decided to go back for a Brazilian. The first appointment I had was with a lovely Irish girl who did a fantastic job. The only problem was that they only had strip wax, which is way more painful than hot wax - and I'd rather not have strip wax used in the more sensitive areas. So I asked if I could come back to have the job finished when they had some hot wax. This wasn't a problem and I was given an appointment two days later.
Coming back was the biggest mistake ever. This was the worst waxing experience I've had in the 6-7 years I've been getting Brazilians. The woman (I think her name was Lily) repeatedly tried to pull off wax before it was set; put the wax on in such small areas that she had trouble gripping the wax (resulting in hairs being pulled, hard, but not removed - OUCH); and, apologies for TMI here but she somehow managed to slather wax onto very tender areas that don't have hair growing anyway! Also, it's not funny or relaxing to joke about torturing me when you actually ARE torturing me. To top it all off, when I got home I noticed that the wax was patchy anyway!
I usually have a relatively high pain threshold but I was almost crying at one point during this experience. Truly awful. The only reason I'm giving two stars is because the first experience was totally fine.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Had a facial/ hot stone/ sauna treatment at the spa. Both facial and hot stone massage were wonderful. I was completely relaxed. My esthetician Margaret was very professional.

I have been here a number of times for pedicures, and absolutely loved it.
This place is especially perfect for two - they have a private room for two, so whether it's a girlfriend or Mom that you're wanting to treat (I''ve been with both!) it's nice to be able to indulge and chat at the same time without having a bunch of other patrons listening in (or getting annoyed by you)
Great prices are an added bonus, but more importantly, the staff is extremely professional and great to work with, you definitely aren't rushed so even if you're just there for something specific (ie: toes!) you instantly feel relaxed, and they do an incredible job.
Highly recommend.
