Review from Kal C.
Methinks Mike P is hard to please.
The accommodations are great and with the Skytrain and casino so close, you can't go wrong. My friends booked the room after having stayed here before, and they made a great choice.
Pros:
Great included breakfast (but get their early and abuse the waffle maker if you want one)
Nice beds and linens
Excellent maid service
Granite counters
Flat screen LG TV
Tiled shower with rain shower head
Nice rates on tourist attractions from the main desk
The Pub/restaurant is great
Good Location
Shuttle service people are so nice (not that I used the service)
Quiet
Customer Service
Lots of hot water available/doesn't run out quickly
Coffee maker, wardrobe, fridge & Wolfgang Puck coffees
Cons:
The ATM was broken until the day we left (which sent us on a painful mission for cash after walking to the ends of the earth)
The soda machine doesn't work/has no sodas in it
A drink (non-alcoholic) in a glass from the pub is $3.75. I feel like there should have been a "we have no drinks in the machine right now" credit.
The parking lot is a bit weird to turn into/navigate
The water pressure in the shower sucks
Also, stay away from the Costco across the street. It's like a 3rd world country in that parking lot. The only reason I turned into the Costco parking lot is because the hotel's parking lot turn in was so weird and the shuttle was coming up behind me. -
Review from Mike P.
My partner and I stayed here last night, and this was easily one of the worst hotels I've stayed in.
Walking in through the front door, the threshold plate was broken. Its screws were missing and just laying lose on the ground, for anyone to kick and trip over.
We were greeted with a snarky "can I help you" from the desk clerk. Upon confirming our reservation we were told that it was for a normal king size room... except my partner had booked a jacuzzi suite. We were given the excuse that "we don't have jacuzzi suites here." Hrm. Too bad Best Western's website says otherwise.
The reservation was booked using air miles, so it will be something we'll take up with the air mile company.
Anyway - we got up to our room and it was one that had a door to combine it with the adjacent room. The door was so thin that we could hear every word on their TV and their entire conversation. Plus, there was brown oozy something on the ceiling; the night stands, table and entertainment center had gunk on them... no way... gross!
We complained and got moved to another room, across the hall. Only issue with that room was it only had 2 pillows and there was gunk on the night stands and entertainment center. Fine, whatever. Called the front desk. We got more pillows. I got wet paper towels and cleaned the room myself. Fine, whatever. It was quiet and no schmuck on the ceiling.
What a relief.
Or... that's what we thought until this morning. The shower... the water coming out of the tap was comfortable. Pull the shower lever and it was suddenly scalding hot or ice cold. WTF?
The free breakfast was okay. No real problems there.
Overall... bad customer service... dirty rooms... broken plumbing... stay away. -

This hotel is extremely convenient. Located within 5 minutes of the Airport, The Great Canadian Casino, and the Oak street bridge into Vancouver it's perfectly positioned to provide easy access.
With a facade that would remind you of a building belonging in the Alps the interior matches with a certain warmth that makes staying here extra comfortable.
Pricing is very decent and this is one I recommend whenever out of town guests visit.
