My favorite shawarma place to go to. I always get the falafel wrap there. This place is a special place for people that like falafel. They make the falafel always fresh on the spot as you order. This place possibly has the best falafel in Burnaby!

Their spicy is very spicy. Even the medium is spicier than most places. Their shawarma plates are pretty expensive though so I don't go here often. The meat is inconsistent too, sometimes it's very dry and overlooked. The donairs are cheaper and are pretty huge. I'd get the donair over the shawarma because its aboout half the price.

This is my favourite shwarma place.  Abdul introduced me to shwarma years ago and then treated me like family.  He makes the sauces himself from fresh ingredients and the portions are really big.  I love the lentil soup.  I've tried shwarma around Vancouver and in Turkey and Germany, Abdul's is my favourite so far.

I wanted to eat a shawarma and decided to get one from Abdul...well I have to say that I am pretty disappointed with it. The lettuce was old and I even had the end chunk of the lettuce in my shawarma. Way too much veggies (old lettuce and tomatoes) and not enough meat. The chicken was not the best quality... I am used to eat shawarma back East (Ottawa Region) where most of the restaurant use chicken breast only to do their shawarma.

I will not be returning there because the product is not worth the price. I was disappointed with my lunch and will wait for my next visit back East to eat some tasty shawarma!

I look to my self as a falafel expert! I tried Falfel all around the world (at least 5 countries) and in hundreds of shops. And I think this falafel is the best in town so far. It's hot, crunchy and moist at the same time ... Fulfilling indeed. And the garlic/hot sauce in the wrap is divine :D

In the down side, I found the place pricy  for wraps, though it's so fulfilling and  worth spending the bucks in :) The service is not that great but you will survive :D. Also, the person might  smell like fraying oil in no time, so better have your wrap take away and wait for your order outside.

Excellent shawerma that's very well spiced (I've tried the chicken lamb and beef and all were great).
The platters (see picture) give you a ton of food that can almost feed 2 people as a meal.
They have this spread they put on the pita that I THINK is some kind of tahini spread but also spicy.  I've never tasted anything like it before.

SOOO  close to 5 stars.  Unfortunately it's cash-only here, and wait times can be a bit long when they have one single employee working.

This is my go-to Shawarma place.  I've been going regularly since 2005.  It's cash-only, which isn't convenient, but it more than makes up for it with quality.  I've been here over 50 times.

Abdul is all business behind the counter - if you treat him like a servant whose job it is to provide you food, he doesn't respond well - he's proud.  If you treat him like a person and talk to him, he's great.  One of the happiest restaurant owners I've met.

The reviews here tell me that it's a take-or-leave-it kind of place.  At the time of writing this, I've reviewed 2 other places I've had shawarma and also have it from time to time downtown on Robson Street or Commercial Drive.

Abdul's is my favourite.  The chicken wrap is my usual fare (with medium spice).  The hot sauce is too hot for normal people and I recommend against getting it before you try the medium.  You can expect the wrap will have the right amount of meat, lots of greens and tomatoes.

You won't get the diversity of vegetables that you get at other places, such as turnip, but that's fine by me.  The garden salad style is one I find preferable to others.

Today when I left, the two guys in front of me were raving about how good it was.  I think the differentiating factor is that the meat tastes BBQ'd and doesn't come in slices like the other places I go to.  One review described this as scraps, but it's just not the standard roasted style - BBQ vs deli-sliced is how I think of it.

Anyway, know that this place will be different from other similar places.  If you don't like it, you should try Abdul's in Metrotown (entirely different ownership/management - unrelated) near the Save-On for another quality place nearby that's a bit different.

Best falafel I have ever had.  Very fresh, flavourful and moist!!!  No frozen out of the box falafels here.

I have been spoiled because all other falafel's just don't compare.

If you're going here get the Shawarma platters not the wraps. The wraps maybe packed, but mostly just with veggies, though, the hot sauce was really good. However when you have the platter you realize the amazing meat you're missing in those wraps. They give you a variety of salads in the platter, it's so packed with meat, rice, pita, I can never finish the whole thing. My boyfriend takes me here sometimes, he used to work there. The guy was super friendly and gave us a discount on our meal! At the time he was also very excited about his new sign XD It's not the prettiest place in the world, but a good place to go for a heavy stomach and a heavy wallet. I'd like to give it 3.5 out of 5.

Not sure what the excitement is about, ordered the lamb, it had too much lettuce  the meat seemed greasy and a little overdone. The service was horrible I shall make a Sienfield reference here and call him soup natzi. He was very short with us even though there were no other customers around so he wasn't really busy, he looked irritated that we were giving him money, and when I commented on how he could be nicer or nobody will come to his place, he mentioned he had plenty of customers. Oh well not that I care, ate the food, it was meh, and on-wards to somewhere else.

    * Syrian style shawarma *

Very friendly service from the man behind the counter.  He was quite on top of things with the rush of people that were in this small little spot in Crystal Mall.

I ordered the lamb shawarma, which is served in a pita with minimal toppings (some sauce, lettuce, and tomato).  There was no pomegranate extract, which I would expect on a Syrian style shawarma.

The lamb itself was just scraps - nothing like the picture which showed nice large slices.  The pita was typical market pita and served cold.  The hot sauce had nice flavour to it, but there is more to a shawarma than the hot sauce!

P.S.  The restaurant is Halal, if that matters for you.

    easily the best shawarma!

the pita spread with what Abdul said is his secret sauce spread. We could order it spicy or mild -- we chose spicy hot and it was really, really HOT. It's not so hot that it burns but it's ... never mind, it's hard to describe here.

Delicious food and grumpy old man service. Nobody would go here for the service though so enjoy the special sauce.

Having spent a couple years in Ottawa, which I swear must be the shawarma capital of Canada, and having Lebanese co-workers I developed a taste for shawarma.

When I moved back to Vancouver I started to look for a shawarma place. I didn't find it in Abdul BBQ.

I should note that shawarma is eaten through out a large part of the world and there are many different styles.  I like the Lebanses style, and if you like shawarma from Ottawa or Montreal that's likely the style you'll like.

I found Abdul BBQ to be okay but not great. They didn't know what fattoush was and didn't even have a garlic sauce.  They trimmed the meat off and then fried it, something I never saw in Ottawa. The beef ended up being pretty greasy and tasteless.

Overall, I saw give this place a pass.
