Probably the best lemon meragine pie, that's all i order.  Can only comment on good service and plenty of space when i go there.  Not sure if that's a good thing or not lol.

so not really a useful review for those who want more info on other food...

What's the next best thing to a Swansens Hungry Man Salisbury TV dinner that came hot out of the oven?  Only to watch the Six Million Dollar Man and classic Battle Star Galactica on an old tube TV with a wired remote control and 28 channels?

Salisbury Steak dinner with Pulled Pork soup at the ABC.

We were the Japanese convergance in this local diner.  It's a place that my parents would love to eat on a Friday night out on the town.  Fortunately in their town, they've got some great diners.  Here in Richmond, this place is about it and it fills that culinary gap between fashionable eateries and the down and out dirty hole in the wall. (don't put your finger in there!).

This place is actually quite clean and the service is not too shabby.  We had a nice waitress that served us, but since we were the rush in her corner, she was a bit overwhelmed.  It's not usually busy here, so a table of say about 8 would make it busier!

Great place to bring your kids for a kid friendly meal and you dont' have to dress up fancy schmancy to eat here.  Just a pair of cords, sweater and a bowlers hat for the gents.  A flowery patterned sheer dress and comfy shoes in matching colour for the gals.

Koto had her first ever turkey meal and liked it.  Wait till she can try the real thing!!

What do me, 3 blue-hairs, and a gaggle of screaming kids have in common?  We are all whooping it up in the near-empty ABC country restaurant on a saturday evening.  (In their defense it WAS 5pm).  (in my defense, I am in Chinatown and actually leaving for China tomorrow and really wanted something non-Chinese to eat before I do breakfast, lunch and dinner China-style)

I ordered the Chicken Pot Pie from about 1924. Once they brought me a hammer and chisel and a rented jackhammer, I was finally able to get into the center of the thing and found a lone pea in a sea of dry chicken surrounded by a wasteland of goop.  I ate the pea to put him out of his misery.  The side salad that came with it was exactly what I expected from a place called "ABC Country Restaurant".  For the hell of it and for my heart health, I also ordered onion rings which came with a side of tartar sauce... whatever....

Continuing my night-o-health, I ordered the "Fresh Blueberry Pie".  Covered in an entire canister of cool whip, the good-sized piece of pie tasted less like blueberries than the little square blueberry crumble thing you always looked forward to in the old-school TV dinners you sometimes ate as a kid.  It was like biting into little round purple balls of water.

Bottom line: I bet this is a perfect place to bring your kids for an easy and cheap breakfast.  If you are of the elderly persuasion and live nearby, try out Chinese once in a while.  it's really tasty stuff.  If you are neither a kid nor elderly and you are stuck here, they've got a full bar.  Use it well my friend.

Great place from the moment we stepped in. Homey welcoming place.  Cute distraction with the little nicknacks to check out while you wait.

They gave us an option for booth or table to see what would be convenience and most comfortable for us since we had an infant with us. (most places never bother to ask anymore).

Our coffee cups were never empty and the service was great. Our hostess/server realizing we had an infant, gave us a cup with lid and straw which were major points with the little guy.

They had a Sunday brunch happening it man did the selection look good. $15.97 an adult, $7.97 children and $14.97 for seniors. Since I've been pigging out for the past few months, I figured I'd hold off on being a glutton for one day. And good thing given how our parts of our meal were so mediocre.

So on to the meal....this is where I struggled to give them 4 stars...

Hubby: scrambled eggs, sausage, hashbrowns and wheat toast....they gave him three sausages and they seemed a undercooked as did the potatoes.  Visibly lots of seasoning but nothing to help on taste sadly

Mom: chicken Caesar salad...ate every last morsel even though she claimed that she wasn't hungry. It was a pretty decent sized portion too.

Baby: kids griddle from the kids menu which is one egg, one sausage (but we got 2), toast (with the alternative of potatoes, which I'm glad I didnt order because they would have been undercooked too. It was supposed to come with milk or juice but...come to think of it.... our server never asked us what we wanted....hmmmm...forgot or on purpose now????

Myself: 1 classic eggs Benny and 1 spinach/feta/ham benny with a sub of side fruit bowl. The bennies looked so delish in the menu photos, but denied. The eggs were overcooked...I like to cut into the eggs and see the yolk run which I is believe is important for any Benny (didn't the cooks see any of the cooking shows); the hollandaise sauce was not enough, would have definitely appreciated more; the ham slices in the menu picture were much thicker looking than what actually was served. If I ever get a chance to go back (since my hubby wasn't too impressed), I'd tell them to make these corrections.

All in all \i would go back there again. Looking fwd to trying their brunch one day.

If you're into the joints where all the seniors go to eat, this is the place. It's been around for a long time offering a very homey atmosphere which is what they shoot for.

They nail the whole country home feel with fresh pies and shepherd's pie.

It really is a family restaurant and is completely suitable for bringing kids and grandparents alike.  Portions are well sized for the price and the service is always friendly.

Good place for breakfast . The crowd is definitely older. Kind of like a fancier Denny's. Feels a little like grandma's house.

OK.. yeah, its a store chain, but in my opinion better than average.  Food here does not taste like "instant/add water" institutional food that you would normally think of.  The portions are quite impressive, flavorful and and reasonably priced.  The decor is rather homey, but I dont necessarily think that is a bad thing... quite comfortable actually.  Ill give 2 thumbs up to the pot roast and apple pie.... of which I will be back for on my next visit!
