Luckily I found this place by accident while stumbling around Kensington Market with a coffee in one hand and a piece of pie in the other. My dream of looking badass at a fancy military-themed party was nearly crushed by other army surplus shops and their inferior variety of used small-sized Men's camouflage.
Not only did AAA have a huge selection of fairly inexpensive military-wear that didn't look absolutely ridiculous on me, but the $40 camouflage jacket I wound up buying has a Sergeant Barnes patch on it. Tom Berenger himself wouldn't look as hardcore as I do in my new jacket. Thanks to a super-friendly salesperson known simply as Dave, I also found a pretty slick beret to compliment it. I tried on a bunch of other things, and even though the other items didn't necessarily jive, I never felt any kind of pressure from anyone who worked there. More importantly I had a bunch of fun in the process of wandering the aisles and perusing their selection of strange goggles and obviously useful gas masks.
A cool shop. Not super cheap, not super expensive. A great selection and super-friendly staff. I'll definitely be shopping here for all of my future camouflage and gas mask needs. -

Customer service not bad, credit card processing procedure a bit odd, and store a bit difficult to navigate due to it being rather tight & packed. Prices were mostly-so pretty high.
I went to this store looking for a shemag, and they had a good variety of them, although they started at $15 (I later noticed that their online store has 'em cheaper with free shipping, and for a shemag, I'd likely go for online).
Anyhow, I didn't have enough cash with me, so I wanted to pay using credit card. They had an ATM at the back which involved service charges. So I went with my credit card, which I was told they have an agreement with another store so they wrote down my credit card info, called their partner store, and had the transaction processed via phone for my payment. That process did not seem overly secure, but I haven't had any fraudulent charges since that transaction, so I guess it was OK (considering I'm sure they still have my credit card info written on a piece of paper at the store).
Otherwise, like I mentioned, the store is packed tight, so getting by others in the isles is tricky. Prices are a bit high for a surplus store.
All-in-all I'm most likely to check out other army surplus stores in Toronto before returning to this one. -

Well, it's a military surplus store, with all the goes along with that: sturdy stuff that comes in black, tan or olive and a feeling that it might be a good idea to form a militia.
I had a great experience with the place. The couple that seems to own and operate it are nice and helpful. It's cheap, but not crazy dirt cheap. I got a really solid backpack there at a pretty good price. I didn't see much in the way of higher end stuff (took a quick look for MOLLE system packs and didn't see them), but I'm sure that it could be ordered in. There also seems to be more emphasis on standard apparel and equipment than collectibles and memorabilia. -

I had no idea that there were so many army surplus stores in Toronto, but it turns out there are. AAA Army Surplus is like the other army surplus stores I've been to, a little creepy. In the bins outside the store were two boxes one with adult gas masks and one for children. Now the owner claimed that these make excellent Halloween costumes, but honestly I think he's preparing for the invasion. The store is claustophically crowded but the stuff is cheap, the kids masks were $10 (a steal!).They also have back packs, camo pants, coats, but nothing very special. I'm not sure who I'd recommend this store to but I think I'd recognize them if I saw them and then cross to the other side of the street.

I have no idea why I wandered in here. This place is so jam-packed full of army surplus stuff you can barely squeeze down the aisles. The gas mask bin out front is a little demented, and so are some of the patrons. Anyway, it's a good place to go if you want camouflage pants, cargo shorts, a pea coat, rubber boots, mosquito netting, a pocket knife, etc. I bought an RAF t-shirt that was kind of cool, and when I realized the logo was off-center they were cool about letting me trade it out.
