In 2009, I decided it was time to install a newer alarm system for my home and asked for a AAA Alarms representative to come and give me the information about there discounted alarm program (joint venture with MTS) and also to give me a run down of the fees associated with the alarm & monitoring. After speaking with a rep for a few hours,  I decided to have AAA Alarms come into my home and install the new alarm, for what I thought was a decent price of $400 (even though after it was installed, an extra $200 was added to the bill).

My understanding was that this alarm would be connected to my Power box, but that wasn't the case. Interestingly enough, the alarm was PLUGGED into an outlet above my washing machine and would consistently fall out of the outlet, due to it's extreme weight. I received over 10 calls in a two month span from AAA stating that the Power was out on the alarm, because it would fall out of the outlet (I ended up having to buy a multi-use plug in and also used a roll of tape to keep the power supply plugged in to the wall). I complained several times about this issue, to AAA, and I explained to them that when I purchased their alarm that I wasn't told that the alarm wouldn't be hooked up to my Power Box (which makes no sense to me).  Why would I purchase an alarm that any person could just UNPLUG it from the wall and proceed to rob me blind? I was told by the AAA Alarm representatives that they do not hire electricians, they only hire Technicians, and if I wanted the alarm unit hooked up to my power supply, that I would have to pay for this service to be rendered. RIDICULOUS!

I refused to pay for this alarm at this point, due to the inaccuracy of information I received from the AAA reps and my displeasure with the entire unit. I asked for them to come and take the unit out of my home, because I was frustrated and upset at AAA inability to divulge this important  information to me, when I signed the contract (which I believe makes this contract NUL and VOID)!

AAA Alarms has now taken me to collections for the amount of $5000, for not only the alarm amount, but for monitoring of 3 years, which I'm unable to use at this point because they've turned my alarm OFF! The reason I was charged an extra $200 on the installation, was for a new control panel - which hasn't worked since the beginning of 2010. The numbers and display are faulty AND I WILL NEVER EVER DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY AGAIN. I'm not impressed with their inability to explain the complete package I was to receive and I would like to rip the alarm out of my home and send it to AAA in a box, titled PIECE OF CRAP!!!
