I don't even remember which location it was, but I do remember this: this was the best root beer experience of my life, bar none.

Having had some "only moderately cold" root beer in a take out cup from the Camrose location, I decided to do the sacrilegious thing and request ice when we came to another Edmonton A&W for dine in.  They said they didn't HAVE ice.  Bold.

What they did have was an ice-cold frosted thick glass mega-mug that kept the root beer so cold that it developed a little bit of ice on _top_ of the root beer - like the small amount of head on the root beer turned to slush.  It was amaaaazing.  And less than $15.  I would have paid $15 for that, had I known what it was going to be.

Oh, also got the teen burger.  Amazingly tasty.... almost like they grilled it.  Did they?  Wow, A&W in Canada is kind of crazy awesome.  Road trip!

I am not really into fast food, but when I go for it, A&W is usually a place where I end up. Like Jeanette points out, there is something about the burgers. Round, thick, juicy - I know when I eat a burger at A&W that I am eating MEAT (think of the word "meat" being pronounced in a caveman sort of way).

I usually get a Papa Burger, because I find the patties kind of small and a Mama Burger isn't enough. And the onion rings -- glorious, glorious onion rings. These onion rings would cost a small mint in regular restaurants - thick, lightly breaded, seasoned to perfection.

I used to like the chubby chicken until it became double seasoned (read: double salt) and the taste for me was ruined. The grilled chicken burger is not bad, but a bit on the pricy side.

If you visit a restaurant and stay for the meal instead of doing takeout, get a real A&W root beer - they serve it in an iced mug!

A & W might just be the root of all evil. I quit eating beef for about two years, and I was doing well. Then one night, I was starving, and there wasn't much else open. The chicken here is expensive, so I decided to get a Mama Burger, since it was really cheap. I didn't think one beef burger could hurt, but after just one bite, I was back on beef for good (well, A & W beef and Taco Time, of course!). I'm not sure if it's the onions, the mayo, the pickles, or the beef patty itself, but something makes this burger taste damn good. The Teen Burgers are good as well, but the Mama Burgers are just as satisfying.

I also think that A & W has the best onion rings around. Yes, they fall apart. Yes, they are messy. Yes, they are greasy. But do they ever taste good!

I only wish that A & W would lower their prices. I remember when they had their $1.50 Mama Burger deal, there were always cars lined up in the drive thru. I definitely ate my share of Mama's during this deal, and I made myself sick several times, because I had way too many! They still have the two Mama's for $4 deal though.

Also, I've always liked the inside of A & W restaurants. They are a little cozier (dimmer lighting) than other fast-food chains. I'm usually intrigued by the old framed pictures that show off A & W's history too.

I rarely eat beef now, but when I do, it's usually an A & W burger. Evil, I tell you... just evil!
