Eric has been our mechanic for several years, and we have had nothing but great , knowledgeable service every time we bring our vehicles in.
Eric is friendly, helpful, and very trustworthy. I highly recommend using his services. -

I highly recommend A&J Nissan Specialist. My friend recommended me coming here after telling him about how fed up I was with the Nissan Dealership Service. I communicated with Eric via e-mail for about 3 months before choosing him to work on my car. Eric is very knowledgeable and it's obvious that he knows a lot about cars. When e-mailing him about my issue, he was able to detect the issue, provide me with alternative decisions, and quote me with prices. He was also kind enough to let me drop my car off on a Thursday night (before 6pm) and pick it up the next day after I got off work. After seeing the result of my car, I will come here for future maintenance for my car rather than going back to the Nissan Dealership.
Thanks, Eric! -

My family and extended family have been taking our cars to Eric and his staff at A&J for many MANY years.
I can go on about how great Eric & his staff are but I will sum it all up in a few words:
Trustworthy
Great Friend
Reasonable pricing
Accommodating
Eric is not just our mechanic but a dear family friend!
If you want honest to goodness professionalism, good service and all around a great place to bring your car...A&J is the place for you! -

Recently had a service done here based on the review here. Overall experience was superb, it could not be any better. Eric is knowledgeable, patients with the customer, detail oriented, and price is just right.
My first experience started with a simple oil change service on my 06' Nissan Pathfinder. He identified trans oil leaks which he addressed to me (showed me in person) and managed to get a quick fix without changing a part. He also identified my transmission oil was dirty and highly recommend of changing. He proceed to inquire the health of the car and past service done on the car, where he made recommendation to service other oils due to the state of the mileage, and ust to be on the safe side.
I made an appointment the following Friday to get these done -- transmission oil flush, front/rear differential oil flush, and transfer case oil flush (on 4x4 vehicle). After the 2 hours service (there's a Starbucks near by to wait), Eric addressed to me he changed the tubes that had leak from previous week because passenger side was leaking too, and explained very detail how many quarts of oil were used, actual labors charges, part costs, etc... The final costs was very reasonable.
Overall was a superb experience. I plan to take my car there for all service going forward. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone. -

I first brought my 2000 Nissan Maxima to Eric in 2008 after reading his glowing reviews here. They are all entirely deserved. Now, for anything other than a quickie oil change, smog check, or new tires, I bring my car to Eric. I used to take my car to a Nissan dealer for both minor and major services, and to Sears Auto for brakes, battery, etc., and used to grumble at the inflated prices they charged. Eric and his team are far superior and provide excellent value for the money. As others have said, he is knowledgeable, trustworthy, fair, friendly, helpful, and professional.

Eric is impressive, he knows Nissan cars well. I recently found A&J on Yelp, all the great reviews and decided to avoid the dealer for a window motor repair on my 350Z. Eric know the issue over the phone and quoted the exact amount (lots less than the dealer) for the repair. He also knew a few other smaller symptoms of the car without looking. I recommend Eric and will go back if and when my car needs more help.

If you own a Nissan, any kind of Nissan, please do yourself a favor and show your car some love by bringing it to Eric (the owner) at A&J Nissan Specialist. I really appreciated the attention and care I know they gave to my 2008 Nissan Versa because when I drove it after they serviced my car, the steering felt smoother and it just sounded better.
The best part was that I saved about $40 - $50 going to A&J's instead of the Stevens Creek Nissan Dealership. Plus they did more for my car:
-Engine Oil
-Oil filter
-Air filter
-Cabin air filter
-30K minor maintenance
-Checked the brakes
-I'm pretty sure they put air in the tires too
-Cute little sticker reminding me when to come back (the last time I went to the Stevens Creek Nissan Dealership, they "were out" of stickers)
The whole experience really warrants 5-stars because listening to Eric was like listening to my father tell me how he just fixed my car, gave it an oil change, checked the brakes, etc. Not only did he tell what he had just fixed and printed it out on my receipt, he also explained things to me about my car that I didn't even know - like how Nissan Versa's have a fairly weak engine, so I should expect to come back regularly to ensure my car is running in tip-top shape.
The location, while on busy Monterey Road has a Starbucks right down the street. Or if you prefer, you can walk about 1 mile North to The Plant Shopping Center. Or if you don't want to walk, bus routes, 63, 66, 68 and I think 62 all have stops at The Plant and all along Monterey Road. It's actually all very convenient when you have about 2 hours of time to kill while you're waiting for your car. -

I stumbled upon A&J by accident after yelping another car shop in the same lot. Needless to say, I am soooooo thankful that the other shop was full and I waked into A&J desperate to remove the "maintenance light" that had been taunting me for weeks. Eric and his team are reliable, trustworthy and friendly. I feel so welcome every time I come and never worry about getting taken advantage of. I recommend A&J to anyone who asks for a great mechanic!
Also, I love chatting with Erics father, Mr. Matsuda, while my car is getting fixed! A very sweet and interesting man! -

I just got back from my first stop at A & J. Even though it is close to 30 minutes away (with traffic) I went there because of the great reviews.
Took in my new-to-us (for a few months) Nissan Murano. After my last oil change at a dealership (went there cause had a free oil-change coupon), the dealership told me that my drive belt has some minor cracks and needed to be change (costs $169 to do). I told them not to do it and I'd get a second opinion. Eric took a look a few days ago and said one of the two started cracking. This is the family hauler so I want it to always be in top shape. The price was much better at A & J. So I took in today for an oil change, drive belts replacement, and check the brakes (had a little squeak). Walked out paying less then the dealer wanted just for one thing. They didn't charge me to check the brakes either.
Since I was the first one in as soon as they opened (had an appointment), I was out of there before I could get too comfortable with my laptop -- by the way, there was wifi available without any security (the signal was only too bars so I think it was a neighbors, but it was good enough).
I think I found the mechanic for my Nissan! Thanks Eric. -

I've been going to see Eric at A&J since they opened a couple years back and would recommend him to anyone.
His prices are extremely reasonable, and workmanship top-notch.
He's handled all the maintenance to our vehicles (Nissan Pathfinder and Honda Prelude) and has done a stellar job.
The first job he did for me was a pain-in-the-ass suspension bushing replacement, which came back UNDER ESTIMATE!!!
All the jobs he's done for us have been fast. He's never done work that hasn't been authorized. And on a couple occasions, when we had some expensive work done, he even let me pay it off in multiple payments. Unheard-of, no?
A Trustworthy Mechanic... a rare thing these days. -

I've been going to Eric at A&J for about 3 years now and I must say that this is AS GOOD AS IT GETS when it comes to car maintenance and repairs. He is very trustworthy and does a very good job. He is very thorough in explaining how, why, when, and where the problems are.
As someone who knows little about car repairs, Eric is someone I will be going to for future repairs on my future cars to come NO QUESTIONS asked. I recommend him and his work to anyone I know. -

Well, it appears that there are still honest mechanics around with integrity and some sense of professionalism. I know there are probably a lot more, just hidden.
Eric and crew were efficient, focused and keeping me aware of what they were pursuing when I brought my 02' Nissan Maxima in to deal with the 'Service Engine Soon' light.
In about 15 minutes they had inspected a solenoid, checked my oil, read the code from the on-board computer and reset my computer all at no charge.
I will definitely be coming back to them with both my wife's Jeep and my Maxima in the future.
A&J looks to be the place to take your cars when you have started to lose faith in mechanics.
Great job, guys! -

Eric. He's a nice man and is running a very well, and friendly shop. He took my car in (96 infiniti g20), gave a quote on my radiator within mins and that was it. I was ready to talk back home but he told me he'd give me a ride. He didnt want me walking in the heat. Eric takes care of his customers. Not to self, that was my first visit.
I'm loving the vibe. He laughs, chops it up and his prices are reasonable and affordable. He's my new guy. -

I was recommended to A&J by a friend. This place is a family business with corporate quality. You always get an honest assessment of the situation from Eric. I would recommend this place to anyone with a Japanese car for sure. I come out from Hayward, which is far, but it is all worth it. Eric is flexible and is accommodating for my situation (coming from the east bay).
The prices are very fair and at that price.... the "honest" feeling you get after getting your car back is worth the price. I've been to other mechanics where my car issue was fixed, but a new one popped up. I would ask the mechanic if they drove my car to notice the change and they would say yes (when they obviously haven't). Eric takes time with your car to ensure it looks like your issue(s) are fixed and that it feels like your issue(s) are fixed as well. Thanks A&J! -

I had my 30k service approaching so I cringed at the costs from the local Nissan shops were charging (I believe 450 for Fremont, 400 for Capitol Nissan). Thank goodness for yelp I saw a couple of Nissan service areas. A&J was the first on my list so when I called the only question I really had was "how much". The service even with synthetic oil was more than half what any other Nissan shop would charge. I did get a (hoopty) loaner so that was nice. The service only took about two hours too. Eric's pretty cool I'd come back here again for sure.

Stopped by A&J after seeing all of the great reviews. Eric and A&J exceeded all of my expectations. I came in for a brake squeal on my Xterra that Eric advised me to not waste my $s on attempting to fix as it wasn't a safety issue.
I then asked if he could do a quick oil change while it was up on the rack and Eric finished it for me on the spot in just a few minutes. I really appreciated the personal time and attention given - Eric patiently answered all of my questions. Eric also did a thorough once over on the entire vehicle with me and we ended up finding 2 leaky shocks as well.
Definitely will be coming back to A&J for any future issues with my Nissan. Pricing is very fair too. Highly recommend them. -

Thanks Yelpers for helpful reviews. Mr. Eric Matsuda exceeded my expectation.
My 2001 Nissan Sentra had an annoying loud grinding-like sound coming from under the hood. I had put off getting that fixed because none of the other mechanics were sure of what the cause was. I then turned to Yelp to find a good mechanic and I did find one in Eric.
I took the car to Eric without a prior appointment. He was kind enough to diagnose the problem right then. He, along with a fellow mechanic, found the root cause in about 10 mins and clearly explained me the root cause (I have no knowledge about auto mechanics). He also told me how long it would fix it and the cost.
The following weekend I took the car in for repair. I was waiting there while my car was being fixed, so he made sure that he delivered the car ASAP. The car was ready to drive out in 1 hour!
I am writing this review after about 3 months of the repair. The car has since been driving very smooth. I am a very satisfied customer. Eric is very kind and generous with advice. He patiently explains it all for you. Finally you'll leave with a peace of mind.
GREAT SERVICE for GREAT PRICE!!!! -

This last winter, I had a valve spring break on me which basically put my car out of business. Here's my story..
I went up to Washington to visit some family for thanksgiving and when the time came for me to go one of my cylinders wouldn't fire. I took the car to a couple different shops (including Toyota) and all of their tests and fixes were inconclusive. We eventually had the car towed back to California and taken to A & J. Eric was able to give me a diagnosis quickly without even batting an eye and had the car fixed in no time. If only I had just brought the car here in the first place.
Moral of the story is to just bring it to Eric as soon as something goes wrong with your vehicle no matter how far away the car is!
Eric is the best!!! -

One word: AMAZING!!! Service couldn't be better. You can easily see that the owner, Eric, really cares about his costumers! I definitely know almost nothing about cars and he took the time to explain things to me. He also saved me from having to spend about 1000$ on a problem that didn't need to be fixed before my smog. From now on he will get all of my business for my Nissan! More shops can learn from the way he runs his business. Like I said AMAZING!!!

Eric is excellent!
It's hard finding an honest mechanic, but you can trust Eric. We took our car to Wheel Works for an oil change and tire rotation. They informed me that the car would need $2500 in repairs!
I had a funny feeling about their estimate, so I decided to look for someone who knew Nissan's. I stumbled across this place on Yelp, and decided to go to it, and I'm glad I did. Eric looked over our car, and brought the repair bill down to $850.
He was very upfront and honest about things that needed to be done, and their urgency. We're most likely getting rid of the van, and Eric even supported the decision, not trying to pressure any sales.
The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is due to its (sort of) inconvenient location, TERRIBLE parking situation, and its a bit tricky to find.
But from a purely service standpoint, I HIGHLY recommend this place! -
Review from Mark D.
If you drive a Nissan I recommend you bring it to Eric for servicing. I had a bad experience with dealer so I yelp Nissan and AJ Nissan came up. I called and Eric advised me to bring my truck over. He changed the oil, inspected the vehicle in less than 30 min. Best thing of all is that he only charged me $35. Dealer wanted to charge me $150. I really like the way I could ask Eric the owner of AJ Nissan questions about my Nissan. We were talking about the breaks and he advised me they are in great condition. He told me his Nissan truck has done 300k miles. I will not go anywhere else. I am very happy with the service provided by Eric and team!!

I own a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder LX edition (4-wheel drive), and the reviews convinced me to try Eric's Nissan service. Considering that I had everything done from new brakes to timing belt replacement, tune-up with Mobile synthetic oil, and so on, it came to just over $1,500 which I considered reasonable. (My last repair of about the same amount was in 2001, so my repair costs over the years on this 85,000 mile vehicle are very reasonable.)
My real interest was getting the work done right the first time around, and Eric did this excellently! After having driven it for less than 2 weeks now, I feel confident to write a glowing review. The car drives like it did new, and the classic smooth feel to the Nissan brakes when I stop is there. I drove it on a trip north this weekend (roundtrip was almost 200 miles) and it sounded and felt just right.
Eric explained everything his shop performed, showed me the replaced parts, and returned the car in the clean condition it arrived in. The free loaner car was a bonus. The loaner car is bare bones but the engine is well maintained and it got me to work, which is what matters! I'm puzzled by those complaining about parking. Would you rather he leased more parking space and increased his prices to meet higher operating expenses? The prices Eric charge don't just happen; these prices are the result of fiscal discipline on his part, which I admire in an era where adults act like teenagers burning their first plastic.
I will definitely make A&J Nissan Specialist my repair shop from now on, thanks to Eric! -

I'm so glad I found Eric and his shop. His shop and staff are very professional and polite. I was looking for a shop to work on my Infiniti G35 and found him on Yelp. He goes above and beyond to make sure your car is running right. It was my first time going to get work done, but won't be my last..

You have to experience it to believe it! Eric is by far the best mechanic I have ever known. Not only does A&J stand by quality, service and integrity, but the fact that SAFETY is a priority makes me confident that Eric really cares about his customers well being and he's not in it for the profit. He loves what he does and is good at it!
My husband and I have designated Eric as our family mechanic for over 5 years and 5 cars, 2 kids and a dog later, we still continue that relationship. I just want to say thank you Eric for your hard work and dedication. I highly recommend your work!!! -

I took my husband's 2003 Nissan 350Z here as it had numerous engine, mechanical and cosmetic repairs that needed to be done. My husband had wanted to take it to a Nissan dealership but I had to convince him not to since they charge an arm and a leg there. I yelped for Nissan Repairs and noticed this shop with all positive reviews and figured I just go get an estimate since it was close by. Eric was able to diagnose the problems that afternoon and even fixed a few minor things (changed a lightbulb, replaced a fuse). He quoted us a great price and explained what needed to be done. After completion, he showed us what he fixed / replaced. He is very personable and seems very honest. My husband and I would highly recommend him for any of your car repairs. I'm planning on taking my daughter's Xterra there for repairs (unless I sell it!) ; )

I was having problem with idling on my 2003 Murano when the car was warm. Tried to make the car relearn the idle volume with no luck so decided to take it to A&J based on the reviews.
I talked to Eric and showed him the problem. Left the car there in the morning. He called in the afternoon and explained that he had to clean the throttle body since all the gunk was preventing the car from relearning the idle volume. BTW, he didn't charge me for cleaning the throttle body.
I was going to take it into the dealer and they would have charged double just to take a look at it. If they somehow found out that the throttle body had to be cleaned first, I'm sure they would have charged for that as well.
Eric is super nice and knowledgeable guy. I would definitely go back for future service on my car. -

Wow, whoever said, "A good mechanic is hard to find," never went to A & J Nissan Specialist. Eric and his crew are simply the BEST! Eric, the owner and head mechanic, will take the time to fully explain what is wrong with your car.
Eric is extremely honest and knowledgeable. He will never try to scare you or try to sell you other services unless it is completely necessary for your car.
And as for the price...Eric is extremely fair, compared to most of the mechanics in the area. My wife and I never feel ripped off after getting our cars worked on by Eric. Our cars always run so well, like brand new, after Eric works on them. We have referred all of our family and friends to Eric's garage. They to, all rant and rave about the high quality work and service Eric has performed on all their cars.
Do not let the name of Eric's garage fool you, "A & J Nissan Specialist." Eric works on ALL types of cars: American, German, Japanese, etc. and ALWAYS does an excellent job!
If you are looking for an outstanding mechanic who is honest, dependable and very fair, go see Eric at A & J Nissan Specialist...you will not regret it! -

Eric was great--our Pathfinder has a check engine light and was due for emission testing (auto fail in California). Having read multiple message boards, and knowing how finicky these cars can be, we feared the worst. To our surprise, Eric called us an hour later and told us he could fix the problem with a single part--a part that cost less than 1/4 of what we had budgeted. Even better--he had the OEM Nissan part in stock and was able to fix the car that day. He recommended against additional work we inquired about, saying it wasn't necessary given the good condition of the car (how many mechanics turn down work?!!). Best--he took our car across the parking lot and had it smog tested for us when we got back. In one short afternoon Eric earned himself two lifetime customers, and we intend on recommending him to each and every person who asks

I own 3 ( yes, three) Nissans . I have a 2006 Ex-Terra, 1998 Villager ( Nissan Quest) and a 1996 Nissan truck. All of them have been expertly taken care of by Eric at A&J Nissan for the past 4-5 years. Eric is extremely knowledgeable and friendly...But most of all he is HONEST! He knows his stuff and will keep you up-to-date on your car's condition.
I highly recommend Eric to anyone that wants/needs quality automotive expertise on their Japanese car. If you are looking for the best...stop looking! A&J is it! -

The mechanic diagnosed my car issue over the phone AND told me how to fix it myself! I have a 2002 Nissan Altima and I was getting check engine code P0507 - Idle Air Control System RPM Higher Than Expected, which went on a few days after a fuel injection cleaning. The original mechanic who did the fuel injection cleaning had no clue why the light was on and claimed that it may not be their work that caused it. I called the Nissan dealership, and they said it would be $150 just for a diagnosis. I decided to call a few Nissan specialty shops, and A & J was the best. I told him my problem and he told me that I needed to do the 'Idle Air Volume Learning Procedure.' He said that I could come in and he could do it, or I can look up how to do it myself online. I did the latter and my idle RPM went down to normal! This guy really knows his Nissans.
