I wouldn't buy stuff there, but as far as trade in value goes these guys are some of the best in Toronto. You actually get something of a decent price when trading your games in, unlike most stores that toss some spare change your way and then resell the game at 10 times the price. Also the selection here is pretty decent and the staff are knowledgeable about their products.

I have to change my rating from 4 stars to 3. I still love all the things the store sells, but the shop keepers don't seem as friendly as they did the first time I went. No one greeted at all, and there was this strong miserable vibe coming from the place. I don't expect everyone to treat customers like royalty, but when you enter and the place is dead silent and no one even looks up, it just doesn't feel good (it feels like you're being ignored). The shop keepers also emitted a sort of depressed vibe which makes you feel like you gotta be quick and leave ASAP. My tip, think about WHAT you want to buy before you go, quickly ask, buy your stuff then leave. Sure you can stay and browse, but there's so much "negative energy" in there

Review from Flouny S.

I really like coming here because they have a good line classic retro video games from pretty much any north american console. They also have some imported japanese games. If only I didn't have so much homework I would buy the sailor moon gameboy game.
The service here is usually pretty good and it is one of the few places in Toronto where you can rent video games. You have to make a deposit for the value of the game you are renting plus the rental fee. When you return it they give you back your deposit minus any overdue fees.
This is a go to place besides EB games for used games and I find the prices are competitive. The only disadvantage with this place is that their new game inventory is often limited. The emphasis on this place is retro games.
They also have funny commercials from time to time with their resident joker, Daniel. They review vintage games and it's pretty hilarious.
A few stores down they have A&C world where you can play video games on the three major consoles. A plus factor because for the entry fee of $5 you can play all day but the downside is that the game availability is sometimes lacking. You can always rent a game from upstairs and bring it down here to play but ya gotta pay the $5 admission.
Only downside to this place is the store is small so they have games stacked in there to the gills! Gets troublesome to move when it's busy so you feel like sardines.
Worth a trip to check it out. -

If you're a classic gamer/collector, you gotta go here.
The people here are pretty knowledgeable and helpful, and they have a serious number of games.
It's a cramped space, but you work with what you have, I guess. They have consoles on hand you can try, too! I tried a Virtual Boy for the first time here! It hurt my head. But it's all good, it's still cool that they let you play around/test the games you're interested in buying. Very good stuff, and not usually done at the other stores I've been to that sell used games.
If you're looking for that particular NES/SNES or other old school game, they'll probably have it, and will let you test it! They also have a large selection of strategy guides and other random stuff. -

I'm a firm believer that video games peaked in the late '80s and early '90s. I'll never get tired of playing my NES and the two greatest games ever made are Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World. I'm all about 2D side scrolling games; 3D is bullshit.
If your philosophy on video games is similar to mine or if you just want a bit of nostalgia you have to check out A & C Games. This place is a vintage gaming goldmine. NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, Atari; A & C stocks all the classic systems as well the full range of accessories and a huge assortment of games.
You could probably find a lot of the vintage games cheaper on Ebay (e.g. Super Mario World is $20 at A & C) but I'd prefer the tactile experience and instant gratification of shopping in person. Also, the shop is a little disorganized; it's not worth trying to find anything yourself, just tell the knowledgeable staff what you're looking for and they'll help you find it.
Pro Tips: A reasonably up to date list of the games in stock is available on the A & C website. -
Review from Gary F.
Koreatown, Toronto, ON
First impressions are important and these guys blew it. When I asked about a console/games trade in I was helped by a guy on the floor (he was helpful) but when he referred me to the "boss" that's where the 1 Star service came in. This little twerp never even made eye contact with me and spoke with the other associate as if I wasn't even in the room. It was like having to speak through a translator. I expect nerds to be socially awkward but not also rude and arrogant. It amazes me that with so many business on the fringe of bankruptcy that customer service is not always top priority.
