Capital FM plays plenty of the old classics. Don't tune into this station hoping to hear the latest pop single.
They play music from the 70's by artists like Elton John, the Beatles and so on. This music is before my time but I still heard it growing up and still enjoy it today. Most of these artists are pretty timeless. It's also refreshing not hearing auto tune on every single song like all the "good" songs on the radio these days.
It's a nice change of pace and a great reminder of what great music actually sounded like. -

Cap FM is good for people that harbour fetishes for '60s, 70s, and '80s pop music along with the odd '70s rock tune. Cap FM (wisely) avoids any music from the '90s on up.
Rob and Audie's morning show is free of all the crude, childish behavior that plagues most morning radio shows. Some of the regular features on their show, like "Mr Maynard" and "Ma & Pa Regular" are pretty bad though. This is the kind of entertainment that your grandparents would enjoy. These two programs have to go. What I like most about Rob and Audie is that they don't act like they have anything to prove. They're not trying to show you how risqué they can be or what clever smartasses they think they are.
What separates Cap FM from the other adult contemporary, Lite rock, and EZ rock stations out there is that they only play pop classics. You won't find Celine Dion or Savage Garden here. That stuff is best left in the doctor's office waiting room and off the public airwaves.
Cap plays Donny Osmond's syndicated show every night (probably so they won't have to pay a DJ.) Don't worry, he doesn't play any of his own music. -

Capital Fm is so good!
If you love oldies, this is definitely the radio station for you.
Their morning show is always great. It has Rob Christie and Audie Lynns. I grew up listening to Rob and Audie on a different station and I loved them then, so I was pumped to find out they were coming back now! Rob and Audie are Edmonton's most popular and best known morning team - and for good reason! They are great at what they do. They are funny and they have a way of making you smile (even while you're stuck in morning traffic on the Whitemud).
Capital plays oldies - Blondie, Elton John, The Beatles, Bon Jovi, etc. It's a great station.
One of my favorite things about Capital is that they don't overplay songs. I think it's partly due to the genre of music (oldies), but I really appreciate it. Other stations overplay and kill songs, but not Capital.
Give it a listen, you'll like it! -

This is a nice station for the oldies! Aside from 102.5 Joe FM, 96.3 is my go-to radio station for long drives because oldies make me relax while I'm driving. I don't want to hear Justin Beiber when I've been behind the wheel for hours.
I still prefer Joe FM to this because they play a lot of music from my favorite period: the 80's. Capital FM is more of a 60's and 70's kind of radio station, so expect to hear stuff like the Beatles, which is way before my time. They do play a few 80's hits that keep me satisfied. I'm only 23, so if you're 30+ years old then you probably won't have an issue with the music that they play.
The talk shows don't do it for me though, I'd rather have them just play music the entire time.
