This is a great place to play ice hockey, indoor soccer or do some ice skating.
What I love about watching my husband and friends play hockey at 8 Rinks, is that you can watch in the comfort of the restaurant upstairs. You're not pressured to purchase any food or drinks so I like that flexibility. There's a couple of massage chairs in case you wanted to relax and most importantly, it is WARM upstairs. Yay!
If you do want to purchase food, I usually order the nachos. The portions are huge and I find they are the tastiest items on the menu. Go for the Irish Nachos if you have room for extra room and deliciousness! http://www.yelp.ca/biz... (instead of corn tortilla chips, you get deep fried potatoes)
Note: There's plenty of parking and it is always free. -

How many rinks does Eight Rinks have?
I joke. There's not much to say about 8 Rinks. If you're not a figure skater or hockey player, the rest of this review probably won't matter to you so save yourself some time.
Of the eight rinks that, well, 8 Rinks features, one is primarily designed for figure skating, one for indoor soccer leaving the other six for hockey practice and games. The ice quality for the two rinks on the figure skating rink side (I believe they are 5 and 6) are horrendous, rinks 3 and 4 are half-decent, 2 is good and 1 is the best (formerly used by the Vancouver Canucks for practice).
8 Rinks has two hockey leagues that run throughout the year: Adult Safe Hockey League (ASHL) and Ice604 (the former is arguably the better of the two).
Food at the Thirsty Penguin (located on the second floor) is decent - gives you a great view of all the rinks.
Be sure to check their website for public skating times, rink bookings and various lessons. -

Only for its reputation as lots of rinks, obviously and many of their house/beer leagues going on.
In general, the ice sucks, esp. on the older side, the "B", or the ones on the left side, same side as the indoor soccer field. The boards are slanted even, noticeable! Any hockey player will detest playing there.
but the first 4 Rinks are good, so that the canucks practice on #1. In fact, just this first rink, and its 4 dressing rooms, are the best, with lots of hooks and cubby holes to put one's gear, and larger room too.
The Green rink's rooms i find are way too tight, guys tripping all over and stepping onto each other's bags, which is a no-no to me.
The extra star is also for the food upstairs, though not great, it's convenient to go up there after a game for beer, wings, etc. Plus a huge foyer/lobby sortof, for the fans to watch from....
Usually a busy place, esp. on the weekends. -

Skating. What could possibly go wrong here? Burnaby 8 Rinks has $2 admission days. Not bad if you also have your own skates. I'm looking forward to it being open more than just Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (I hope that happens).

Good place, half decent food, beer, hockey. what more would you ask for? Fun to go and cheer and jeer at the games, always a good night. Better to go with a few people. Chilly by the rink, so better bring some warm clothes, unless you plan on watching from upstairs, but rinkside is always better!
