What an unsuspecting dive! Despite its richly decorated interior, new everything, and clean taps, not to mention proximity to some cheap eats and mass transit, the programming, staff, and patrons make this an unforgettably sleazy place. We went here on the tail end of a Friday night pub crawl after witnessing some unfortunate guy get stiffed with a bill he couldnt pay at the Thirsty Duck. Came in here and the dance floor was packed with people dancing to cheezy 90s pop and rap hits, much like the highschool dances they would likely have been chaperoning a few years ago.
The mitigating factor was BEER. Lots of... not incredibly cheap at all, but decent tasting swill BEER. Trying to enjoy this became more and more difficult as the music became louder throughout the night and some drywaller who smelled like he shit himself constantly asked us to watch his beer as he danced everyone off the floor, literally. Never have I seen so many people in camo pants and/or stripper outfits flock to their tables in disgust.
Fun sleazy times, but Ive only ever come here when waiting for company ever since. Their comfortable heat lamps are not something to scoff about!Listed in: Dive drinks

Review from Vincci L.
Ended up here on a weekend night with a large group of people after a party. Not bad for location, this is right next to the New West skytrain station (literally.) The interior seems to have been renovated, hardwood floors, several bar tables in a large open space. The patio was still open, with a few patrons here and there. It was suprisingly empty for a Saturday night.
We were greeted promptly, and seated quickly. We were able to get a large table near the back of the pub. (We had a group of 20?) Took us a bit of time to settle down, then a waitress came over to take our orders. They have several drink specials every night, and on game nights, pitchers of Canadian is $9.95. The special beer on tap was pale ale, so almost all of us got a pint of that.
Music played is current top 40's. There's lots of screens around the place, a good location to watch games. Atmosphere is very relaxed. Despite a few people (especially one) that clearly drank a little too much (and they were stil serving him), people here are relavtively calm. Didn't try out the food but saw that they had $0.10 wings on Wednesdays.
Not a bad place, good service, and good prices. If I'm ever in New West again, I wouldn't mind coming here. Because of it's great location, we managed to make it onto the last skytrain of the night!! -

This place is a bit better than a dive no matter what ownership it is under or the decor they change. What really destroys the place is the clientelle of smelly, dirty men sitting outside getting tanked at all hours of the day. Only time I have enjoyed this bar has been I was already loaded at the tail end of a pub crawl lol, but then everything is nice then.

The 57 Below is a disgusting cesspool of New Westminster and Surrey filth. The beer tastes like crap because they never clean their taps. This is a rancid, horrible place frequented by Surrey skids.
