Review from Susan G.
By the store front, you wouldn't suspect all of the board games they have inside - but they have them ALL and it's worth a browse!
While the front of the store is devoted to "action figures" (is that what you call them? Models? toys??!) while the back has two walls of board games, conveniently organized into alphabetical order. They have all the usual gems as well as many I've never heard of.
The staff were the best - my friend (Cait B. - you know you were a trouble maker) could not decide between two versions of a game and they patiently walked her through her choice (in the end, I made it by demanding we leave). The staff were very nice, available, and clearly had a great knowledge of board games.
If you're looking for a classic game or something a little more unique in interesting - they'll be able to help you at 401 Games! -

These guys have a solid selection of board games. They have everything that's at least relatively popular and a few obscure titles. You won't find the one-off's or lesser-known games here though.
The place is always busy and for good reason. There's tables for tournaments and game playing, the selection is great for card games/collectibles, RPG's, and figurines. The staff are knowledgeable and can answer any question.
Best of all, this place is cheap. I can't understand how they can afford to sell their board games at such a low cost. Where other places are selling games for upwards of $50, their price on the same game is $32.Listed in: December 2011

Best board game store I've been to with a huge selection of games. They had tons of Carcassonne expansions as well and they're usually very hard to find. All that and they've got better prices than any of the other places I've looked! Definitely the place to go in Toronto for board games.

What's amusing is that 401 used to be a general duty convenience store. That means that in addition to D&D books, miniatures and Magic and sports cards they'd have convenience store bread, chips & pop, bus tickets and prophylactics.
Over the years the focus has become games, which you can see from the store's name. They have a good selection of board games and card games, as well as action figures and a cooler of pop. It's got a good owner, thankfully, and a staff of never less than passable customer service skills. Most items are automatically marked down 10%,
If you're looking for a a game, 401 is a good place to start. They've got a good selection and the games are good values.Listed in: Geek Stores in the GTA

This is the only store to go to if you want to buy games. Their prices are the best I've seen and they have a collection I have spent an hour going through. They welcome gamers with daily events and frequent tournaments, so it's a good place to meet like-minded gamers.
I have seen the staff be standoffish with other customers but they have always been very good and polite to me. They even gave me a free bag the last time I topped up my Catan collection! -

I have already admitted my nerdish leanings, but I am not a true nerd. I like sports and have no difficulty talking to girls. If you are looking for real nerds than the place to go is 401 Games. I'm not sure if I have ever been in a nerdier place in my life. Within the store you can buy almost any permutation of collectable figurine ranging from athletes to things I have never even heard of. Now I can hear you saying "But Mike, lot's of stores have figurines and aren't that nerdy." Well that's true but where 401 Games really takes the cake is their weekly collectable card game tournaments. That's right if you are hungering for a Pokemon game, you can find one every Saturday just bring the Clearasil. I can't personally recommend 401 Games because it is even too nerdy for me, but if you are a big nerd and proud of it (there's nothing to be ashamed of) then 401 Games is filled with people just like you and I would recommend going, for everyone's sake.
