Wonderful Japanese comfort food @ super affordable price. Former Yoshoku-Ya on Deman.
Favorite menu items:
Corn soup -- sweet & creamy
Clam chowder -- a tad too sweet but load with goodies
Shrimp fry = prawn tempura NICE
Ginger pork -- my favorite entree...they beat the pork till tender; will require at least 1 order of rice to finish the soy based sauce. Carrots & pea loaded with butter
Creme Caramel -- Must save room for this dessert, semi sweet smooth smoky caramel...need I say more? -

I am a fan of this local, but there seems to be a duplicate here.
the original is this one but the ownership and the style of food has completely changed a few months ago.

This place confuses me. It's always packed, no matter what (we came here New Year's Day and on Saturday), but there is always just one server.
So my fiance and I have been coming here since we started dating (he brought me here on my 25th birthday Day-O-Fun). This weekend, we had an entertainment book coupon so we decided to come here. Since I am off cola because of Lent, I had a coffee... it's okay. I should have gotten a juice. I saw another guy with orange juice and I am really swayed by advertising.
I ordered an eggs benny with mushrooms... They have really cute names for all the different bennys. I forgot the name of mine, but they have to do with Looney Toons. Their Hollandaise is really good. I ate all of my potatoes too. I wish I had toast because I always want to use the individual sized peanut butter packs.
The service is good. Even though she is the only server, you don't have to wait long... maybe to pay, but the food comes out fast. She also comes around and refills the coffee. It's a really good neighbourhood place... if I wasn't so lazy, I would walk here... but there is always parking. -

Note -- this review was written when the place was called the James Street Cafe.
A small diner with breakfast, lunch, dinner offerings. Had a simple eggs benedict with a slice of real cheddar and some breakfast potatoes. Not bad for a weekend breakkie; friendly staff, quick service. Overall, a quiet little neighbourhood cafe where you can have a relaxing meal.
EDIT: went here recently for brunch and both of our orders were wrong (mine came with bacon on top, and my friend's had about two slices of mushroom on a mushroom benny). plus the waitress disagreed with me when i told her my benny was a non-meat one (she got the menu to show me, and then realized i was right).
