Review from Catherine K.
Nanaimo, BC
My husband took me here for lunch yesterday and....YUM! I had a lovely risotto with peas and garlic, and my husband had a braised beef sandwich. I love the fact we could watch our lunch being made (from scratch, no less), and the sides (salad with yogurt roasted garlic dressing for me; fire roasted tomato soup for the husband) were great too.
Good service, and the chef came out to chat with us, too.
We'll be back! -

My experience here was just ok but I was sick so I have a feeling it is better than I think. I had a mushroom and onion tart with salad. Didn't care for the cream-base dressing but otherwise, it was not offensive. It came with a dob of cream cheese but I opted against it.
There was a bacon yam soup that intrigued me and I should have had it cause a soup is a good indication of how good the rest of menu is. If they put care into it, you know they care about food. Anyway, I didn't.
All this to say, I will definitely check it out again when I'm back in Nanaimo.

Review from Chantal I.

We came in for breakfast this morning and had the Eggs Benny special. It was delicious. The herbed shredded potatoes were excellent. Moist without being greasy, and perfectly seasoned.
Staff and owners are friendly and engaging, and I was happy to support the new kid in town. Level Ground Tanzania was freshly brewed and topped up at the table.
They also have more available for take out now, frozen Cornish game hen meals for two, soups, and sauces. Some frozen stuffed pastas as well. Lots of tarts and baked goods to go with that coffee.
The front window display is full of treats and cookies that would be great hostess gifts or, more likely in my case, snacks for the ride home.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Had soup and a bun not only was it cheap, it was the best tomato soup I have ever had! It's actually tomato pesto soup and it was so delicious I had to come back again. What a great light lunch for $5! The staff is really friendly, I will be back!
