Review from Alison V.
So the parking situation could easily get a bit hairy for Uber. Your options are to park along Aurora Ave or along one of the side streets. Lucky for us, on a weekend we were able to snag a spot on Aurora quite easily.
I really liked their tap menu on the screens. They also had a bottle list available if you asked for it. On the screens of the tap menu is a keg level which I thought was totally cool. According to the bartender, the keg level is done by hand with POS information and may not always be correct.
There is not a lot of seating here, but on a Sunday afternoon it wasn't too busy. They do not offer any food options, but I saw another person get a pizza delivered. The waitress was nice and probably would have been much more willing to chat if she wasn't distracted by some random jerk at the bar. (Even she was happy when he left).
Overall, I think this a great place to stop in if you're a beer lover in Seattle. -

According to someone I won't name - (Kate S) - I was made to feel embarrassed that I had never visited this place when, in fact, I love beer. Well, while she may very well have been right, I ended up having the last laugh, as my visit happened to be timed in tandem with the arrival of a keg of Pliny the Elder. That's right, kids, the white whale herself. Well... maybe the Younger is the white whale so I guess the beige whale?
Anyways, fantastic taps, good prices, and pizza next door if you, like me, can't handle drinking with out eating simultaneously. I confess, it's hard to convince myself to choose anything else over Naked City, but honestly, this little Tavern is certainly in the same realm of awesome.
Will most certainly return! -

Yeah, buddy! Not sure why I haven't rated Uber Tavern yet. Been many times, enjoyed my stay at every visit. I've tasted just about every beer they offer and have never been truly disappointed. They offer a range of sizes which is ever-so appreciated by the hesitant beer enthusiast who is sketched out by a beer name, or that it was brewed in Milwaukee.
Ordered pizza down the street a few days ago and they delivered it right to the bar and that was cool. Wish Uber made their own things because I'm almost entirely certain it'd be good, too. I'm down with the looks of the new remodel, but wish they had more stools in there. -

The beer selection is stellar but I wish there was more seating. All in all it is a nice stop to pop in for great beer.

Review from Tom B.
Hard to believe it's been more than half a decade since this place opened. They've used their time wisely, without a doubt. When they began, they were a wonderfully weird little enclave of beeriness along this tawdry strip of Aurora. After years of perfecting their craft, cultivating a clientele both locally and far beyond the city limits, investing their profits carefully, and stockpiling an OCD-esque retinue of fermented delights to serve not before their time, Über is now...a wonderfully weird little enclave of beeriness along this tawdry strip of Aurora.
They've added to it, certainly, though the footprint inside is still the same. They added the little sidewalk courtyard a couple years ago, and added the planter boxes around the same time. After some unsolicited overnight editorializing from the local Crackhead Gardeners Club, the ambitions of those planter boxes have been scaled back rather markedly, but the pleasant al fresco seating option remains--covered and railed in.
Inside, what used to feel like a kooky house party with a fire table in the middle and big bottle coolers behind the bar now feels like a stylishly kooky house party with a fire table in the middle and big bottle coolers behind the bar. The refined blue on the walls now suggests a tony library at a gentleman's club, so be a gentleman, for heaven's sake. The multi-ton zebrawood beast of a bar suggests locales even more exotic than Aurora ("Where is that wood grown?" "Africa." "Noooo...*zebras* are from Africa. Where is zebra*wood* from?" "Under the ze..." Never mind.). The walnut ceiling-support beam suggests...that spending a butt-ton of extra money on fine hardwoods is worth it sometimes.
Gone are the colossal tap towers that used to protect the bartenders from: archers, trebuchets, and being able to see customers. Well, the Delirium Tremens tower is still there, over the inlaid Scrabble board, but every bar needs a pink elephant on the corner. In addition to Scrabble, you can also play Backgammon under a heavy layer of resin, if you get the right seats.
But what matters most here is the beer. And this beer selection is truly a matter of great import. Hundreds of bottles line the cooler racks, with a fair emphasis on rare and small batch big American beers and a freighter full of bigger (i.e., more alcoholic) European stuff, both classics and newer releases.
There are also tap handles, now bundled together in a phalanx of malty infantry on the back wall, which boasts a luminous interweave of glass subway tiles. Such design flair! ("Yeah, I have the gay gene when it comes to decorating." You just can't make this stuff up. You can only catch people when they're loaded and write it down for blackmailing them later.) What's particularly cool about the tap lineup is the new War-Games-like array of monitors above the coolers, listing all kegs in the order they were tapped, along with the next three on deck. No more scrambling for a little green book, and wondering if you should hurry up and order a given beer in case it might kick before you get to it.
The staff here has been wise and powerful since day one. This shows no signs of abating. I often hate coming in here when it's busy simply because it means less chance to shoot the breeze with them. Or throw a Frisbee.
What no one bar can change, though, is the local color on display outside, along Aurora Avenue North. More than once as I have sipped a tasty beverage here, young ladies have walked back and forth and back and forth past the windows of the establishment. I figured they must have been running errands, or moving, or something, but they were never carrying anything, so it's hard to be certain.
That motorized pageant of humanity, the Metro #358, stops right outside the sidewalk patio here. When a 60-foot limo rolls up, it can easily block every window in the place, making you feel like you're in a dark little cave (well, you are, not even figuratively speaking). When that 358 shadow settles over the room, what you are is an easily-distracted baby seal that just noticed the great white swimming over you and blocking out all your light. Those squealy bus brakes are the hoots of an owl in the dreams of a mouse.
Über is one of the oases in a stretch of road that Seattle forgot. (Not on accident did Seattle forget this scrofulous motorway, either.) There's a bit of character lately to some businesses around here, and there's even a high-end spot across the street (PCC). You can bring in your own food from anywhere, though PCC and Beth's are natural choices, and Aloha Ramen is a personal favorite. There's a book behind the bar somewhere, full of take-out menus. Just ask for it.
Every industry needs places that push to offer the best of everything. Very few places are Über's equal in that regard. And none really surpass it, especially when you count the square footage. You can get lost here. Probably you should. The 358 can always take you...elsewheListed in: Seattle Beer Meccas

They've remodeled the place a bit. It's now better than ever.
Take note of the flatscreens behind the bar. On them, you'll see the current taps, information about them, prices, and coming soon attractions.
The creature comforts have been updated a bit as well, but it's still the Uber you've known. You'll be like "sup old friend. I do believe I'll have a fine brewtreat!"1 Previous Review: Show all »

Picked up some tortas to-go down the street at Barriga Llena and headed to Uber Tavern. I'm adventurous with beer - there isn't a type I won't try and always find something to love in every category... so this was a match made in heaven! The tables have board games that you can enjoy while you order from the massive selection of tasty brews.
The service and ambiance are excellent - we didn't have to go up to the bar to order once despite there (appearing) to be only one bartender/server working.
Will definitely keep Uber Tavern on my list of regular spots for any night of the week for laid back evenings with friends. -

Decided to try this place based on the reviews being so great and they are right on. This is a small, well laid-out space with a wonderful beer selection and a staff that knows how to guide you to what you will enjoy. Great music that isn't intrusive and a great feeling. Nice place.

I'm in love.
Utterly, whole-heartedly, fantastically smitten.
Absolutely, no-doubt-about-it, wonderously twitterpated.
Then again it isn't hard to find your way into my heart if you know what I like...
and I really like beer. And Über goes above and beyond (tehe - German puns) when it comes to beer.
Great tap list. I seriously had to sit and take 10 minutes to decide because my options were all ~great~. Don't come in here looking for a PBR, come in looking for something crafted with care-- top notch imports and local brews. They have an even more impressive bottles list. I wish this was closer and I don't, cuz I would be here every night slowly drinking my paychecks away.
Service is friendly and laid back. If the bartender can't explain some of your options look for one of several books in the joint that go over every type of beer imaginable that explains ingredients, flavor, and mouth feel. Keep that book handy and you'll be a beer pro/snob in no time.
Decor is all semi-beer themed. The skeleton themed, local, beer paintings being an amusing thing to consider when sipping your brew. Not a lot of seating, but if you are lucky you can enjoy their fireplace in a center table on one of those more chilly evenings or have your pint and snuggle up with someone on their single, bright red couch. Make them fall in love too --with Über of course, and maybe you for taking them there. -
Review from Andrew M.
Excellent beer selection and it's one of the few places around town where you can order a boot of beer.
Their recent remodel was a success... the feel of the place has been preserved, it's just been upgraded a bit. The beer list now consists of several flat screens above the bar that lists each beer, where it was brewed, its AC, and even how much of the keg is left. Probably the coolest beer list I've ever seen at a bar.
It's also a great place to wait for the southbound 358 since the stop is literally just outside the door. -

Was rollin' down Aurora after a hoops game looking for a place to grab beers with my brother and his friend when out of the sea of signs pops Uber! I'd seen it on so many Yelp lists it was a lock to stop and check it out. I'm not sure I can say anything anyone else hasn't except that Charlie was super friendly and helpful, and the beer selection and quality is phenomenal. I'm both disappointed and grateful it's not much closer to home.

Portland, OR
Another beer-geek haven which I need a 6th star to properly rate.
This bar is all about the beer, and not much else. They're not trying to be cute or trendy, and the location's not exactly happening.
From the quirky decor and the laidback patrons to the phenomenal tap and bottle list, there's nothing to complain about here.
The bartender is happy to give you generous tasters of anything on tap, and will give you advice if you're not sure what to order. They also keep your water glass topped off without being asked. Big thumbs-up from me for this.
Speaking of the patrons, if you enjoy watching crunken mofos trying to play a game of frisbee by standing on opposite sides of 6-lane Aurora Avenue, then you'll love this place. Their attempts to avoid hitting passing motorists with the frisbee were topped only by their frequent climbs up over the top of the awning to retrieve poorly-tossed frisbees.
[Full disclosure: I'm not sure I can write an un-biased review of this beer bar, however, since I went here with a friend who is friends with the owner, and well, let's just say that I was well taken care of. :)]Listed in: Forget Coffee, this is…

We stopped in here for a quick brew before the last Mariner's game for the season.
Right off Aurora, it's kind of easy to miss except for the eye-catching UBER signage. Parking can suck, since the side streets are the kind with cars parked both sides and only one car can drive through and it was a part of Aurora with a median strip, but we managed.
The place is tiny! a handful of tables, a curved bar for several patrons, and an interesting bar-level table with rocks that you can set aflame (they were not burning when we were there). A couple tvs showing sports were on opposite walls. Random stuff hanging from the ceiling and walls. They sell t-shirts! Outside, a skinny fenced patio with several barstools.
We were given large menus (many many pages) of their current beer offerings..which were later swapped out for an even more current menu a few minutes later (I thought that was kind of cool). The guy told us the changes on the old menu before he printed the new and I selected a creme brulee beer. The alcohol content was at 11% and while I could have ordered a taster size, I went with the regular size. It's hard enough for me to pick one beer, I can't see myself picking a second because I ordered taster size. :) It arrived within a few moments, extremely dark (I side eye dark beers because I'm a wuss), but it smelled wonderful (caramel) and tasted just as good. I was very happy with my boozy, sweet beer.
It was just a real chill quiet vibe for a weeknight. The guy checked up on us a few times to see if we wanted to order more (we did, but they ran out of the beer so we decided to wrap up). Beer was not much more expensive than ordering a beer from a regular place. Considering the variety of what you get, it's a good deal. Having any beer come in taster size is great too.
I was weirded out that there was absolutely no food available, even peanuts or chips. But that's cool that they accept food deliveries.
To echo another reviewer, when the restroom door is open/closed often, the area does start to smell bathroomy. Perhaps only girls notice this because I commented about this after we left and my husband didn't even notice. :P
I'd be open to coming back here and trying their other wussy or sweet beer because that's how I like my beer! -
Review from Ross H.
When we moved to Seattle one of my favorite questions to ask people was "What are the best places to get great beer?" There were three consistent answers: Brouwer's Cafe, Bottleworks, and Über Tavern.
Though I don't frequent Über enough because drinking and driving is not cool, my visits have always been met with big beers. They do a good job of balancing their selection, so that there is always something for everyone. They get their hands on rare seasonals and have a great cooler full of bottles to expand your beer knowledge. The staff is friendly and it's pretty common to bump elbows with many of Seattle's brewing personalities when you're at the bar. -

Very cool place. It's small, so definitely limited seating unless you get here at an unusual time. Decent amount of bar space, but past that there's only a couple of tables inside, a big round table at the center of the bar, and a couple outdoor tables.
The beer selection is killer. Lots of choices from all around the world. Great to go in and sample lots of different stuff. Bar staff is friendly and helpful. Crowd that shows up here seems decent for the most part. Minimal amount of barflies and jerks. Prices are also reasonable. If I can find a seat, it's a great place to stop into. Great location as well, and there's even a pizza place that delivers here. -

If you want to geek out and drink awesome beer, then here you are, welcome to UBER! Beer is changing daily. Multitude of bottles to select from and something like 15 taps. They have beer events here too, which are intimate and crowded, the place fills up quick.

One of my favorite beer bars. I try something new every few months when I come in, especially since they are always changing their selection. The one bartender I usually seem to have is incredibly helpful and nice.
I definitely recommend this neat little place decorated with cool beer related art! Also, try the fire table. If your party is small, you might meet some new people on the other side! -

Small, limited seating (even after the renovation). But the size makes the bar feel intimate. A great selection of bottles - it's like drinking in a bottleshop - and a tremendous tap rotation with a deep cellar. I wish there were more bars like it.

THE GOOD:
Never crowded when I go!
THE BAD:

THE LOWDOWN:
The atmosphere is sweet, the beer selection is great, the staff friendly. What more can you ask for? Been here multiple times, weekdays afterwork. Can't speak for the weekends, but judging by other posts, can get busy..... Great place!Listed in: My Favs for Happy Hour

English brews, German brews, Belgium brews, brews on draft, bottled brews, growlers, kegs to go, specials, and partners in crime! What more can you ask for? Perhaps more seating space, but I think it would take away more than add to the establishment known as Uber Tavern (don't know how to add those two fancy dots on top of the U)
If you like the sauce and you like to be spontaneous with what flavor sauce you choose, than Uber is THE spot.
Go for a standard brew or go for the extra fancy extra pricey stuff. This place has the full spectrum.
The bartenders are relaxed and friendly to talk to and are always ready to recommend something great based on your preference; or even if you have no preference.
The venue is nice, it exudes relaxation, albeit limited in seating (more seating in the summer as the front mini patio is open for great views of Aurora/99).
All in all a great establishment. -
Review from Aaron M.
Excellent selection of very good beers. The fire table in the middle of the room can get very hot if you are forced to sit there. Like melt your face off hot. This also warms your beer up so you have to drink it fast and lots of it to keep cool. Not a problem but prepare for a second mortgage.

This in my opinion, is as good as it gets. The beer here is awesome, I've tasted things at Uber that I never even imagined. The atmosphere is cozy, it has a table in the middle that you can sit around that has a bunch of rocks in the middle with a fire burning out of it, it must be natural gas. I love that.
There's a couch you can sit on and chat with your friends. You can order pizza from down the street and have it delivered. I don't really like bars much, but I like this one.
Did I mention the beer is awesome? They have every type of beer you could think of. -

Uber is one of the best beer bars in Seattle. The bottle selection is killer, and they have a crazy amount of taps considering how small the place is. The cozy atmosphere and dedicated group of regulars really makes it feel like a neighborhood bar.
The best part? The bartenders. My favorite is Ken - the hipster with a heart of gold. Don't want an attitude? Don't be a douchebag! You want fruit in your beer? Get the fuck outta here and get your ass down to Applebees. You don't want to have to order at the bar? Cry about it, saddlebags! If you want a bartender who took a trip to Belgium specifically to drink Belgian beer, you've come to the right place. His ever-changing facial hair is reason alone to keep coming back. What will he do next? -

Granted, bringing more then 4 people here is hectic and you have to maneuver to figure out how you're all gonna fit. But it works out somehow.
I was a tad disappointed to go online and see a beer I realllllly wanted to try on their Tap List, only to find out in person that it's been sold out for days *insert uber sad face here.*

It's small. It's mighty. It's Uber.
There are quite a few things I like about Uber. I like that they come up 4th in a Google Search for "Uber". I like that they keep an updated tap list on their site, almost daily.
I like that they have 4 oz. taster sizes offered for every beer on tap, some of them being only $1.50. I like the circular fireplace table, though it's almost always just too hot to sit by for long. I like that they get kegs that no other bar in Seattle does, like J.W. Lee's Harvest Ale (seasonal, only available for a few weeks at the end of Dec/early Jan). And they don't overprice their beer.
I don't like that when it's busy and people are in and out of the bathroom, the place starts to smell a little...bathroomy. I don't like that it's just a tad *too* small. I generally try to come on a weeknight when it's quiet and I know I can get a seat. Definitely a great weeknight sort of place.
I don't like that there is no food, not even nibbles. I do like that they allow other food to be delivered there. I do like that there's WIFI. I like the random tastes of mead if you sit at the bar, though that only happened once.
This place is meant for getting your hands on specialty beer (for awesome prices), talking about awesome beer, chillaxing, and watching the Sunday football game. No more, no less. It's perfect for that.
Which is why I frequent this little tavern that could. -
Review from Dante M.
Cool little spot in my new neighborhood! We went on a Tuesday night and were the only patrons in the bar! It was already a good start.
If you check out the other reviews, the venue is rather small so I can imagine it'll get very busy during peak hours. But the selection of brew is by far superior to any other places I have been around the area. We entertained ourselves by reading the tap menu and where all of the brews came from.
Service was OK. The guy left us alone for the most part which is good but was also a little disengaging if I struck up a conversation.
All in all, great bar! Taking off a star due to the size but the beer makes up for it.Listed in: My Neighborhood, The Places I Go Out

The minor fact that there is no food is fine as ive learned that there is a pizza joint a block to the north that will deliver pizza by the slice or the pie to Uber. The prices there are great too.1 Previous Review: Show all »

This place confuses me. Don't get me wrong, I had a great time. Friendly service, friendly patrons, lots of beer choices. But why is there a gas firepit in the middle of the room? Can I bring a s'mores set up next time or is that frowned upon?
I am not a big beer person -- I drink it, of course, but huge selections [of anything] paralyze me, not excite me. That being said, I can see how beer fans would freak the fuck out about this bar. They have a LOT of beer. Also, dig the ridiculously obvious signage. Sometimes it's nice to go somewhere new and have no question of its location. Head south of Aurora and look for the bright as hell red sign. Seriously, that ups the rating right there. -

Wonderful beer selection, but no food. The space is very small.... and I do not understand the open flame on one of the tables. It seems very dangerous when the bar gets busy.
I believe that you can purchase bottled beer(s) and take them home with you. And they do have growlers that they will fill with your favorite tap selection. -

The moment I walked into Uber Tavern and Bone Thugs n Harmony was playing, I fell in love. Great beer on tap, awesome bottle selection, cool ass bartender (Niko), and Bone Thugs!? Was I dreaming? Somebody pinch me, or slap me, this place is too good to be true.
The wall decor is awesome, an artist painted common beer logos in the "Dia De Los Muertos" theme. There is a huge fire pit in the middle of the seating area, and board games waiting to be played.
Their rotating tap list is unbeatable, and their available bottle selection that you can buy from and take to-go or drink in store? Even better. We sampled the Cascade 'Kriek 09' and 'Jelly Roll' (which is really the Raspberry Wheat) which were both mouth puckering delicious. Also purchased a bottle of Southern Tier "Pumpking" and two bottles of Boulevard Bourbon Barrel Aged Quad.
The bartender, Niko, was totally cool we talked beer for awhile. That guy knows the beer scene damn well! He recommended some awesome spots for us to check out on the Portland leg of our beer-trek.
I think Uber and Bouwer's Cafe are at the top end of the beer scene. But Uber lets you buy bottles to-go, which is freaking awesome. I highly recommend this place if you are looking to buy bottles to-go and sip on a few beers in the "what beers should I buy" decision making process, because we all know that takes forever.

I live in Northern California and have only been to Seattle 3 times... and I've been to Uber all three times. This is by far my most favorite bar ever - its exactly the type of environment that I like to drink beers in. Its low key, its not crazy, its not a restaurant trying to show you good beer... its a place to go with your friends and drink amazing beer.

If I were to count the number of good times I've had at Uber, I'd run out of fingers and toes.
Good idea: Try a couple of the more obscure beers you haven't heard of.
Bad idea: Order a bunch of beers you've never heard of, ignoring the alcohol percentage, and then try to peel yourself off the floor at the end of the night.
Good idea: Ask the bartender about some of the beers, and find out which he (or she) recommends.
Bad idea: Try to impress the bartender with how much you know about beer. Trust me. They're not condescending, but most of the bartenders here have forgotten more about beer than you ever knew.
Good idea: Bring a buddy who appreciates beer.
Bad idea: Bring eight friends who think that paying $6 for a pint of beer is ridiculous, and that all bars should have $1 PBRs and shots of Jager. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
Good idea: Grabbing a slice of pizza from the shop next door after you head out.
Bad idea: Asking the bartender at Uber for a food menu. There isn't one. -

Uber is my favorite place to try a new beer, or buy a keg for the home kegerator. They have around 15-20 beers on tap, and then another few hundred in bottles elegantly displayed in large, glass refrigerators behind the bar. Except for Delerium Tremens, which is always on tap, the selection is varied and changes frequently. Belgian beers are generally well-represented, along with a few more exotic brews such as agave mead. The bartenders always seem really knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the beers.
It's a small place, but very nice and cozy. There's a really neat gas firebowl filled with crushed glass in the middle of the place that is fun to sit around in the winter. In the summer, they seem to replace the flame with a slightly cheesy bubbling water cauldron, like the kind you see around Halloween, but I guess it complements the cool skeleton-themed beer art on the walls.
As far as kegs to go, they have a really good selection and reasonable prices. Sometimes you can even get a good half-barrel microbrew for $99 (plus tax).Listed in: Favorite Bars - Seattle, My Neighborhood…

I just got turned on to Uber by the beer geeks writing the previous reviews, and I dig this little hole-in-the-wall. The fridge has every beer known to man, and the bartenders know their beers. If this place were closer to downtown, my buddies and I would be in a world of hurt. The are no distractions in this place, as people come here to do one thing: drink beer
After you get bent over by the prices at Brouwers, much less the new-style downtown Tap House, come to Uber, get your drink on and save a buck or three. -

Fabulous beer selection, always chill and talkative bartenders. We came here once and just watched karate kid w/ the bartender. It was awesome
Only complaint is that it's a bit small, and can be tough to sit 3-4 people together.
Also their cigars are just ok
but the beer, oh the beer... you get a masters in beeronomy hang'n out at this place. I'm a sucker for a smooth Belgium ale, and they keep 'em flowing. -

Lots of delicious beers from all over the world. Occasionally beers that you won't find anywhere else in Seattle, because these guys go out of their way to seek out unique beers and be the one place to carry them. If you've got a hankering for a Belgian but want to get off the hill and don't want to pay Brouwer's-level prices, check out Uber.
Cozy, on the dark side at night, which is just how I like my beer bars. Friendly bartenders and great brews. Mmmm, can't wait to go back.Listed in: Seatle Bars for beer snobs!

The quintessential bar for beer lovers. Uber is a very unassuming place in an unlikely neighborhood. This belies the fact that they have an inceredible beer selection domestic and foreign. And the bartenders know their stuff! They can tell you about the type of beer you're drinking and many times even the history and brewing process. The place is quiet enough to hold a conversation, but cool enough to bring your firnds when you want a great beer experience.
